About the Artist

I’ve been an artist since I was two years old, beginning with painting and gradually moving into many more mediums. I took various art classes as part of developing my skills and exploring what I liked best. I took a few drawing and painting classes in middle and high school, took a summer visual storytelling class at the Pacific Northwest College of Art, and attended a “Future of Fashion'' program in New York showing the ways that fashion design and futuristic technology can mesh. Then, somewhere around three years ago, I started experimenting with digital art, and it quickly became my main medium.

Ever since I transitioned to digital art, I usually draw for at least three hours every day- sometimes around six hours. Many of my pieces are people, using both realism and non realism. I take my reference photo(s) and add a twist to them, some sort of distinct theme or concept (such as a florist concept, pastel rainbow, frogs, cyberpunk, etc.). The themes are determined by photos I see online, the feelings and mental images I get from songs I listen to, or elements from the reference photo that I pick up and expand upon in an “extra” way. I often draw from my experience with fashion design and makeup art to create unique outfits and a particular makeup style in my art.

My main source of motivation has always been my ever growing, ever present passion for creating art. I often work through the night into the early hours of the morning without breaks, or work despite neck or back or wrist discomfort. My mind is always brimming with new ideas, and drawing is so exciting for me that virtually nothing keeps me from doing it every single day. Another major source of motivation are the followers of my fan account on Twitter. Having so many people supporting my work really boosts my confidence to continue improving and putting in more effort.

My ultimate dream is to one day have an art-related career. Last year, I became very interested in graphic design, specifically album covers/merchandise for musical artists. Since then, I’ve been working to improve in the design field. Next year, I’m aiming to move to South Korea for school and hopefully make connections in the music industry that will let me pursue design. I did one project with a small company last winter, and I’m hoping being closer will allow for more opportunities to arise.
