I think dreams are extremely interesting- they can reveal subconscious things about your life, remind you of past events, let you live out your fantasies, play off of your fears, and more. I wanted my project to explore the creativity of dreams.
The “Anxiety” route is a little cliche, using classic fears in a blatant way such as spiders, falling, and being chased. The “Horror” route uses more random imagery and story lines, evoking a kind of creepy feeling, but it symbolizes some deeper themes like being watched, being trapped, etc.
Most of the easter eggs are snapping back to reality via a sound waking you up, but I wanted to include one ending where the fear in the nightmare can be overcome.
For the art, I decided to make it very messy and sketch-like, bright against a black background, to give it a dreamlike feeling but a little uneasy and hazy as a nightmare would be.
